Appointments are conducted via Telehealth which means that you get all the usual benefits of having dietitian support but with the convenience of being from the comfort of your own home/office/tropical island (lucky you).

  • Initial appointment
    60 minutes

    During your initial appointment, we will spend time getting to know you.

    We will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your medical, social and diet history as well as gain an understanding of your goals and motivations. Don’t stress, we’ll keep it fun!

    Education is at the centre of what we do. We want you to be well informed and understand the rationale behind why we are making our recommendations. You will receive a small (but mighty) nutrition 101 lesson, and take home some resources to refer back to later. Thankfully, there won’t be a pop quiz at the end.

    After this session, you’ll walk away with a plan and actionable tips that are tailored to you and your goals. You will be able to start implementing these strategies straight away.

    Follow up appointment
    45 minutes

    We are here for the highs and lows of your journey (you shouldn’t have to do this alone). It is during your follow up appointments that we provide counselling for you to better understand your behaviour and relationship with food. We guide you through problem solving, keep you accountable and we listen to your feedback regarding what has been working well for you and what hasn’t been. As always, this is a judgement free zone and we address all concerns with compassion.

    In the follow up appointments, we will work with you to develop a meal guide so you can worry about one less thing when it comes to meal preparation for the week.

    We will also further enhance your knowledge around food, nutrition and your body by educating you more on nutrition myths, label reading, meal/snack ideas and more.

    Be prepared to come to these sessions with as many questions as you like, as we love being in the hot seat answering these.

    The purpose of these follow ups is that we understand that lifestyle changes can be difficult to make. If you have been eating a certain way for 30 years, we cannot expect you to rewrite these behaviours after one session! That’s why we’re here for our clients every step of the way.

    Referral credits

    If you refer a friend/family member to The Digestion Co., we will gift you a $20 credit voucher as a “thank you,” to be used towards any future appointments.

    Medicare

    To be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate, you need to have a current Chronic Disease GP Management plan. This plan needs to be referred directly to “The Digestion Co,” and outline the allocated visits to a dietitian.

    Please ensure that we have a copy of your care plan. We will provide you with a invoice for you to submit to Medicare to claim your rebate.

    Appointments are NOT BULK BILLED. However, we can process rebate payments through our system.

    Private health fund

    If you wish to claim through Private Health, we recommend contacting your private health fund prior to your appointment to ensure you’re covered. Different health funds will offer different rebates depending on your fund and the level of cover. We will provide you with an invoice at the end of your appointment for you to submit to your private health fund.

  • We process payments electronically.

    Upon booking an appointment with us, we kindly ask for your bank details so that payment can be processed at the end of your appointment. These details are safeguarded using the Halaxy card capture feature.

  • We are a busy clinic and often have a waitlist for clients hoping to secure an appointment. So, we kindly ask that you cancel or change your appointment time with at least 24 hours notice.

    You are able to cancel or change your appointment via email or phone.

    Failure to notify us within 24 hours of your appointment change, will incur a fee of 50% of your appointment price.

    However, we also understand that life happens and sometimes things don’t go to plan. So, this will be a case-by-case basis.

  • You do not require a GP referral to come and see a Digestion Co. dietitian.

    If you refer a friend or family member to The Digestion Co, we will gift you a $20 credit voucher as a “thank you,” to be used towards any future appointments.

  • We currently see clients on Tuesday, and Thursday between 9 am and 4 pm. We offer extended hours on Wednesday 9am-7pm.

    If you require an appointment time outside of these times, then don’t be shy and get in touch with us! We may be able to offer flexibility and open our calendar to suit your availability.
